Add beef. In a bowl combine broth, undrained tomatoes, tomato paste, paprika, caraway or fennel seed and salt.

Pour over all. cover; cook on low heat setting for 10-12 hours or on high heat setting for 5-6 hours. Stir thawed artichoke hearts into cooker. Cover and let stand for 10 minutes.
