Thịt Băm Sốt Cà Chua
Thịt băm sốt cà chua translates to "minced meat in tomato sauce" in English. It's a popular Vietnamese dish made with ground pork (or other meats) cooked in a savory and slightly sweet tomato sauce, often served with rice. Loved for its homestyle warmth and ease of preparation, this dish is a staple in Vietnamese households, offering a nostalgic taste of home-cooked goodness with every bite. Instructions
- 1
In a bowl, stir together the ground meat, ½ teaspoon of the salt, ½ teaspoon of the black pepper, and ½ tablespoon of the fish sauce.
- 2
In a pan over medium heat, add the oil. Add the onion and garlic; cook, stirring occasionally, until aromatic, about 3 minutes.
- 3
Add the seasoned meat. Cook over medium heat, using a spatula to break down the meat into smaller chunks, until most of the meat has browned, about 5 minutes. Add the roma tomatoes. Cover and cook until the tomatoes break down, about 2 minutes. Uncover and stir in the water.
- 4
Stir in the remaining ½ teaspoon salt, ½ teaspoon black pepper, and 1 tablespoon fish sauce. Add the cherry tomatoes, and simmer over medium-low heat, covered, for about 3 minutes, or until the pork is cooked through.
- 5
Season to taste with more fish sauce, and garnish with scallions. Serve with a bowl of hot rice.
